The Migrant Heritage Studies resource package appeared in 1976. Funded with a major grant from the United States Department of Education Ethnic Heritage Studies Program, this package contains teaching activities and supplementary resource material on the cultural heritage and migrant experience of three ethnic communities: African-Americans, Algonquin Native Canadians, and Mexican-Americans. A fourth component, on Haitian "boat people" in the migrant stream, was added in 1985, with support from the New York State Department of Social Services Refugee Assistance Program. |
