| The
Geneseo Migrant Center has been very pleased to be able to
supply interested migrant programs and other service providers
with the ¡Adelante! Kit. The Kit is personalized by gender
and is packaged in an easily portable bag which includes bilingual
materials to assist youth with goal setting, decision making
and survival needs. All the materials in the Kit are designed
to be self-directed, but would be better utilized with the
assistance of a mentor/advocate/recruiter. The Kit materials
include: |
 |
A
cloth ¡Adelante! bag. |
 |
A
goal-setting publication, ¡Adelante!,
to provide a guide to career and personal planning. |
 |
A
series of bilingual 'survival' cards (on a ring) on such
topics as: Dealing with the Police; How to Obtain a Money
Order; Right to Know about Pesticides; Sex: Your Safety;
The Selective Service; etc. |
 |
A
series of 3 bilingual job readiness booklets covering:
where to look for work, the application process and introducing
yourself/interviewing. |
 |
A
bilingual card listing numerous toll free resources. |
 |
A
pad of paper and a ball-point pen. |
 |
Optional
toiletries. |
 |
The
family kit includes toiletry items for four persons. |
|
| Personal care items included in the Kit have been items such as: toothbrush,
toothpaste, shampoo, comb, soap, washcloth, travel size tissue
pack, deodorant, razor, lotion, etc. Many programs have found
the Kit to be a cost effective way of providing at least minimal
service to at risk youth and offering a springboard for learner
centered educational programming. |
| The Kits are easy to order. A complete kit with personal care items
is $20 and $15 without the personal care items. You may pay
by Check, Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard) or Purchase Order.
